Marcel Boucher (1898-1965) moved to New York from Paris in the early 1920's, where he apprenticed under Pierre Cartier.  With Cartier, Boucher learned many techniques used in fine jewelry, which he applied to costume jewelry with the birth of his own company called Marcel Boucher and Cie in 1937. Boucher died in 1965 and his wife Sandra, who had worked at Harry Winston, took over the company.
